Where do I get started?
The entire web-world can be confusing, so here is a checklist of things required to get your website up and running.
Buy a Domain Name (Optional)
Purchasing the domain name is probably the single most important part of the process. The internet has an organization (ICANN) which controls all the website names on the internet. ICANN allows registrars (appointed name sellers) to sell off domain names. Domain names usually cost $6.00-$20.00 per year to own. I recommend purchasing a domain name from GoDaddy. The reason this stage is optional, is because Jpauls Web Design offers to assist in the purchase of domain names.
Gather All Content to be Displayed
Determining what content to actually place on the website can be challenging, and usually requires updating at a later date as information changes. I recommend viewing other websites to get a better idea of what content they display on their websites. Try to organize the content into sections; these sections will most likely end up being different pages on your website. Keep in mind, any content placed on a website must be kept up-to-date, so pick relatively static information.
Contact a Web Developer (Jpauls Web Design).
At this point, it is time to call in the developers to design your site. They will setup a server for hosting the website, and any other bells and whistles necessary to operate the website. Hosting is needed to send the website to viewers 24 hours a day. Hosting is usually a $4.00-15.00 a month fee. Jpauls Web Design offers free hosting for 6 months with the design of a website.
